This post is just random stuff I know/learnt about clubbbing. And no, I'm not your everyday clubber, I don't go clubbing every week, I don't know lots of clubbing friends, nor do I have enough $$$ to go clubbing everytime I want to! But hey, we've got to pick off somewhere right?

He're a few distinctive differences/categories about the clubbing crowd:

The Noob Clubber
Visited clubs under 5 occasions
Fret (alot!) on the admission price; 10 quid in London, RM 30 in Malaysia
Occasionally drinking too much (resulting in puking)
Knows nearly no-one there
Dances in a weird robotic style
Has weird mentality like -
If I go in and dance in between those 3 hot chick, we might end up with a 4-some tonight! or,
Hey they girl's looking at me! I bet she's horny as hell! Now's my chance... *followed by a slap*
or for the girl's, Ohno this guy is already dancing with me! How do I get away from him? I can't get away, I have no good excuse, I can't say 'no'!, I guess I'm stuck with him whole nite...

The Novice Clubber (Thats ME!)
Visited clubs 5-20 occasions
Dances better haha!
Monetary issues lesser of a problem
'Knows people' who can get you in free/ buy you drinks
Know at least 1-10 people that happen to go clubbing that night as well

The Advanced Clubber
20-50 occasions
Dancing doesn't necessarily has to be better, haha! Actually if you have a hot bod, your dancing automatically becomes better, I can't imagine a majin-buu dancing smoothly
Start buying drinks for people, opening bottle to get people in and so on
Know 11-20 people there (characterised by the occasional 'hey! how're you doing?' conversation)

The Clubbing Clubber
Knows at least 1/5 of the people in the club, knows the bouncer, the boss etc.
Goes nearly every now and then, minimum twice a month?

Conclusion:
The more 'expert' we are, the more people we know
The more we end up spending? (for guys)
- so basically this means that if we spend alot we can advance faster (it sucks but its reality)
The more freebies like drinks admissions etc. (for girls)

I cerita to people that I'm SPP-ing and instead of encouragement, I get the 'alla you, u tell me this every single time since last year, and you're still fat'. So just to prove that I'm at least heading the right direction, here's some things I did during the last week.

Wednesday : Played futsal for 2 hours on
Saturday : Cycled to Billingsgate Market (40 minute journey), and back
Sunday : Football for 1.5 hours again (i love this game)
Bonus mission : Climbed over a 15 feet fence, and back, to retrieve our football

Although I haven't super cut down on my eating, at least I'm exercising more. Feeling fitter and healthier. Releasing more endorphins. Wish me luck!

Mellow Moments?

Disclaimer : Is that even the right word? Whatever! If you're not a girl, and not feeling particularly in a jiwang mood now, please refrain from reading this post. I only realise how corny this post might sound AFTER writing it, I guess my jiwang-moment just passed.

First before I start writing I would have to turn of that jiwang song playing in the background so I can think properly. Its 5.40am on a Saturday, yet I'm still awake due to oversleeping in the afternoon. So back to my topic title, mellow moments?, I'm sure many of you have experienced it. One day you're all alright (girls) / macho (guys) then suddenly you can sit back down on your lazy chair and mellow thoughts start over-flooding your mind.

You suddenly feel so humble, noble, soft, caring, human?, etc. Not too many images fill my head, maybe just glimpses of it but thats it; I don't go reminiscing my first kiss and all. I just sit, and think.

Aetiology (cause of the 'disease')
In my case, its due to 3 factors.

Listening to an OST of a jiwang movie called My Sassy Girl (Title : I Believe), do download it and listen, it's worth it
Ever gone cycling to a market 30 minutes away 6.30am in the morning? I'll be doing that in a while. So we've got a mellow song AND an activity to go with it what else do we need?

Only the other day I was talking to my first crush on how I had a crush on her and what not way back in Standard 4(I was only 10 years old). This blog really made me remember it all over again. How we use to have puppy love here and there, how the feeling that time was so, simple, so, pure, then I wondered how I have changed since then.

I remembered I used to walk from my school to a nearby girl's school every Friday afternoon, just to see her (a second crush) mother drive her out of school; and it lasted like, 5 seconds?, zoom and gone. Like that also happy.

That was then, this is now. Am I happy with the person I am today? There are some things I would like to change, there are some things that I regret doing. But all in all, I still remember how I used to be, and yes, I still am very much like that 10-year-old Eric I remember I once was

Remembering my dreams!

We all have dreams; Good dreams, bad dreams, sexy dreams, scary dreams, dreamy dreams, happy dreams, straight happy dreams, bizarre dreams, confusing dreams, random dreams, hopping dreams and the list just never seem to end.

Then there's the dream-that-you-never-forget dream, the remember-a-few-days dream, or the instantly-forget-once-you-wake-up dream. Just making a rough estimate, I'd say the proportion would be something like 1%, 20% and 79% respectively.

So my long-winded-ness finally has to come to and end. I'll - - - START RECORDING MY DREAMS. I'll either write it down, or record it with my handphone, so I won't forget it.

Here's one dream that I remembered, happened only a couple of days ago so it belonged to the 20% of dreams that I have. Take note that I would not disclose certain things, like identity,if it has the below criteria:

Having to do with my personal life
Others misinterpreting my dreams for something that is not
No idea who the person is in my dream (figment of my imagination)

Anyway lets dive right in: (due to me writing this so long after it happened, I might have missed out major details, wont happen again :P )

My Dream

I was at this mall with A (A is my gf at the moment) then we were just walking about. Then A had to go do something so her sister B came and walk with me instead (B popped out of nowhere I must say), for some weird reason suddenly B looks so adorable and without knowing (or feeling nervous, or scared) I just leaned in and kiss her; and she kissed back! We did this 'small pecking' for a couple of times before it started to feel weird. Sad to say, A never came back and caused a huge showdown. I guess I woke up after that, feelings like, whoaaa~!

My Interpretation
Sometimes we want to do things we can't do. Killing our boring lecturer, dating Tracy's mom, masturbating on live television (ok maybe not), its the thrill of doing something we can't. The more we can't, the more we want. Someone once used the phrase 'playing with fire'. I know in real life I'd probably never go out with my gf's sister, but in dreamland, anything's possible :)

Recent happenings have inspired me into continuing my SPP or better known as Six Pack Program. The source of motivation include, Helen Ngu with her constant complaining, Lee Pei2 with her farfetched ideas, Ang Choon Seong aka 'The Man' (where the SPP idea originated) and lastly Muhd Zulfadli who surprisingly, semangat for no reason. Yes thank you people for the indirect motivation, but most of all, 50% is due to me finally seeing a direction, the light at the end of the tunnel, the apple of my eye, the last leaf of winter, the shit of bull that I just said, and THE ABS WORKOUT!

Callings Cards from UK to Malaysia

Recently nearly all UK mobile companies have berkomplot-ed to drain poor Malaysian students of their already limited cash (cha-ching!) by introducing charges for various access numbers to call back home. This move has made the below things un-do-able:

Bergayut with gf/bf
Bersembang with member2, and worst for many of us
Calling our parents/siblings/grandparents/cucu/cicit/cicak

OK! So the only direction to go is to allow ourselves to be 'scammed' by phone card dealers. Why scam? Here's just a few reasons :

Reason #1

Firstly, after being scammed into buying a phone card, we would obviously dial the number. Here's most likely what we'll hear.

"Welcome to Smiley-tel (they just love adding 'tel'), please enter your pin code."

teeeee-tee-tot-tee-tee-tee-tot-tot-tot (entering pin code, wasting 10 seconds of our lives)

"You have, £5. Please enter the number you wish to dial."

Eg. 006016 444 5555

"You have FIVE THOUSAND MINUTES."

NO KIDDING?? Whoaa!! £5 card give me 5000 minutes! so thats like 0.1p per minute! Smiley-tel rules bitches! All the other phone card dealers can GESAD (go eat shit and die).

*After talking for 10 minutes on the phone. Roughtly using £0.01. Or 1 pence ONLY.

"You have £4.50. Please enter the number you wish to dial."

WTFFF?? But you just fukin said 5000 minutes! How could 10 minutes be equivalent to 500 minutes?? Why you scamming piece of tahi lembu!!

Reason #2

Continuation from above story. So our Mutusamy is quite pasrah but at least he still can talk for 100 minutes instead of the 5000. 5 days later, Mutusamy calls home to his Letchumi.

"Welcome to Smiley-tel, please .... bla bla ... *Mutusamy enters pin code"
"You have, (a slight pause used for unsur saspens) £4. 30."

Now wait a f***ing minute! Didn't you just told me I had £4.50 5 days ago??? What the hell is going on? Did some ahlong Cina come and kutip 'protection money'?

Conclusion : Yes, phone card companies deduct you money for leaving it idle. Not all do that tho.

Reason #3

Mutusamy doesn't want to believe he got scammed by Smiley-tel. So fine, first you quote me wrong minutes, then you deduct my credit. Nevermind, orang sabar selalu [s]untung[/s] rugi. 4 weeks later, its valentine's day. So again, Mutusamy must uphold his family's honour and make sure he doesn't forget to wish his soon-to-be wife Happy Valentines.

"Again, Welcome to Smiley-tel, please .... bla bla ... *Mutusamy enters pin code"
"Sorry, this card has expired. Thank you. tutt-tutt-tutt-tutt (engaged sound"

Yes people, if you notice at the bottom right of the card written in font size 0.5, is some itsy-bitsy terms and conditions that state this card expires in 30 days. Tough luck! Who ask you to be so stoopid not to read the terms and conditions! Everyone reads them, RIGHT??

If you've wondering what happened to Mutusamy, he went to the nearest public toilet and .. GESAD™. Sad ending I know, but life's like that. Titanic agrees with me. Hero must die. Letchumi live on.

HIV Testing

Yes, I, Eric Koay, had my blood taken, for HIV testing. This could be due to ONE of many reasons:

Intra-venous drug abuse
Unprotected sex with prostitutes
Euthanasia (not recommended)
For fun?
Needle-stick injury

Un-interestingly, it is for a needle-stick injury I experienced while treating one of my patients in the clinic. The queer thing that struck me was the 5 minutes conversation I had before my blood was taken for that test. Key points that struck me was the difference between UK and Malaysia yet again.

Aslo in the event of the test coming back positive, do you have supportive network of friends and family who you can confide in? Nurse : I will now assign you a code instead of your name so as to protect your identity. I will not disclose the results over the phone as this is a sensitive issue. I will call you in for an appointment next week, regardless if the result is a positive or negative, so please do not be alarmed if an appointment is made.

Access Number to Call Malaysia (..truly Asia)

Okay so far this has been tried and tested for 02 phones bought from Carphone Warehouse.
I don't know about 02 bought from 02. Or Virgin, or T-Mobile, or Voda or Oren or 3.

The service is called Noodle Chat.
How to set it up? Just follow the instructions below:

Send "noodle chat" to 81025 (as in send a sms)

Wait for Noodle chat to reply you (via sms); they will give you YOUR specific noodle number

Get someone with free minutes to call u on that Noodle number for like 2-3 minutes; ONLY work if done during weekdays. Basically when your friend call YOUR noodle number, they are redirected to your phone. If you call YOUR noodle number, you will reach the access number.

Wait a few minutes for your your Noodle Credit to increase (you inserted credit when you did Step 3.

Just dial your noodle number and call home.

Real life example:

Little Dino picked up her Sony Ericsson and key-ed in "Noodle chat" and sent it to 81025

After that she waited for 10 seconds and she received a message in her inbox. There they told her that her Noodle Number is 07822389744.

So she asked Mr. Hensem to call her on that same number, which Mr. Hensem/Mr. Generous willingly called her for 3 minutes.

After that Little Dino and Mr. Hensem sembang-ed for 30 minutes. Little Dino then called her nooble number i.e. 07822389744 and key-ed in option number 2. She found out she had like 2 pence. WOOHOO!

Little Dino then decided to call Mama Dino. So she called 07822389744 then entered 006 012 xxxxxxx(notice there is no #). They lived happily ever after.

Finaly for all the other phone services i.e. 02 bought from 02. Or Virgin, or T-Mobile, or Voda or Oren or 3, you can try to call the 08722 number of any friend and see if its charged in your next bill. If its not, they do update me and I'll make sure I inform the rest as well.

This state-of-the-art *cough-yarite* bicycle is a FREE giveaway by Orange Mobile is due to them being the official partner of Tour de France. Due to that, they gave out 500 FREE (okay I'll stop capitalising all the FREE words, its just so tempting) bicycles and I happen to be a lucky recipient nyahaha... but in fact luck had nothing to do with it. I had to leave at 4 in the morning and started queuing at 5am when the giveaway was at 9am!

Lets call them 'Set A', 'Set B' and 'Set C' respectively.

MOTECH of the Month! The Cardboard Cupboard

Okay I know we're still in the same month to be Motech of the Month again. However, I've received bugging from my fellow fans (kreek kreek... bunyi cangkerik) about the recent inactivity. So I'll have to add another Motech for this same month.

A little background on what we're dealing with here. The red thing u see in the pictures below (lower!) is:

A foldable 'cupboard' from IKEA
Meant to store small stuff like socks, underwear, sanitary pad (N/A)
Needs to be set up by attaching itself to a horizontal bar

Right so what's the problem with this? Blame my stupidity for buying this cardboard cupboard. Where will I find any horizontal bars in my room? Okay there's one in my cupboard but there's no more space for another cardboard cupboard, definitely. See picture below.

With that possibility ruled out, how do we Motech our way around this? Simple! With only 2 hangars, a wooden stick and a jacket hanger. Follow these 4 simple steps:

Use the wooden stick as a makeshift 'horizontal bar' for the IKEA cardboard cupboard.
Attach two hangars (two for stability and symmetry) to the wooden stick.
Attach the hangars (with wooden stick and IKEA thingy) onto a jacket hangar.
Throw your underwear or Kotex (with wings) into the cardboard cupboard!

Malaysia vs UK - Edisi Pertama

Ever wondered what the main difference between Malaysia and UK (United Kingdom) is? Well of course there is the 7x currency (murder!!) as well as the four seasons compared to Malaysia's khatulistiwa. However the main, yet subtle, difference I would have to say is the mentality of 1people in UK.

The latest incident that made me think about this issue was my fire alarm. Its a well known thing for student residences to have up-to-standard fire safety measures; including fire doors, fire extinguishers all over the place and none other than the fire alarm itself. I recently accidentally triggered one of these while cooking (sotong goreng sedap gler bab) in my kitchen. As usual we went thru the fire drill, with the fire-engine and all. At the end of it, I was charged 50 pds (RM 300). Well I wouldn't mind paying the fine but it wasn't my fault!! Fined 50 pds for cooking sotong goreng?? If ikan goreng?.. 100 pds??

So for the first time in my life I wrote a letter of complaint stating my points of arguments and all. But a month later, I got a reply and the person-in-charge redeposited the 50 pds back into my account. To be honest I never expected anything to happen. A typical letter of complaint written in Malaysia would just masuk into the tong sampah. Wow... I'm impressed. Never thought this kinda letters actually work. V happy now coz 50 pds richer! But since I'm writing a blog means still bored... v bored... Can't wait to go back Msia to see all ma frenz!

For the record though I kutuk Msia teruk teruk, its still my homeland and I still love it v much. Its just that I hope one day we would be able to progress, mentally that is. We're got enough infrastructure as it stands.

The negative sign [ - ] before the 50 pds means money refunded. :))

MOTECH of the Month!

Ever wondered why some people call me Mo-Tech or Hai-Tech? Well wonder no more as I'm here to clear all queries today!

Abit of history lesson : My dad's name is Koay Hai Moh. So as you can see the "Mo" and the "Hai" comes from there. Its a common thing for high school kids to tease each other by incorporating our dad's/mom's name in the phrase. So wats the deal about the "Tech"?
Tech actually means Technology as some of you might already guess. All in all, Mo-Tech or Hai-Tech is meant to say that I am always coming up with "technology" stuff which, I hope, never fail to impress.

The picture shown on the right is another one of my creations. Due to the heat wave hitting London, temperatures can be as high as 22-25 degrees celsius. Some nights I find myself sweating in my room. So why not use the fan/air-cond some might ask? <-- rhetoric. Well fan's and air-conds are a non-existent thing is my dorms. "Open the damn window!", shouts the little brown mouse. But Shakespear calmly responds, "tho thy window shalt remain open, thy wind shalt not flow". Translation : An open window won't help much when there is no wind blowing in cool air. So I HAD to come up with this.

Step 1: Turn the heater to fan-mode.
Step 2: Balance it on the radiator.
Step 3: Tie it up with an extra LAN-cable so that it does not fall.

Voila! You have your first window-fan! That's all folks'! Tnx for reading.

Guess its neither.

Somehow I just think its tasty and sweet and yummylicious! That's not the only thing my tastebuds have grown to like. Others include Garlic, Onions, Capcicum, Ginger, Prawns, Cucumber (nah just kidding, I still hate cucumber). These just are some questions Agent Moulder and Scully from X-Files would have to answer coz for once The Great Eric has no answer. Do you have one?

Say PMS and everyone knows wat you're talking about. Its the thing we say when
our girlfriends goes crazy and start whacking the car's windscreen with a baseball
bat. Or when our high school teacher starts screaming her head off at pupils not
listening to her. Or when your mum grounds you for no reason. Yes ppl, we're
talking about the same thing, Pre-Menstrual Syndrome.

The predicament here is, do guys have it too? I'm sure we guys have the occasional
mood swings and all. But how much of it is actually 'outside factor' rather than us
having erratic hormone release? These are a few (exaggerated) examples.

Day V
Sleeping sums up our day. We sleep from 12 hrs a day, wake up, do some stuff then
back to sleep. *FIRE ALARM* ... But still asleep. *Gets chased out by firemen, and
eventually fall back to sleep after the drill* Wake up, watch movie, back to sleep.
Eat dinner, back to sleep.

Day W
We don't sleep! I stay awake all day and nite and then off to Dim Sum. When we
actually fall asleep, we wake up feeling unhappy andd grumpy and angry with this
world. *Don't disturb me this time* Even if we do sleep, it's not the deep sleep we
want. Small noises wake us up.

Day XXX
Wake up. *censored*. Watch movie. *censored*. Eat. Then *censored*. Then *censored*
again then sleep. Some even go visit clubs hoping to score. I've seen lions on heat on
Discovery channel but this kind of days are just plain freaking weird. Those with
girlfriends/spouses, get some Mopiko/Vicks coz it bound to get sore.

Day Y or Why?
Day Y shall be attributed to days when our brain go into hyper-mode. We're no
longer the happy go lucky guys. We start asking ourselves weird questions. Like
' Why are my tears rolling down just listening to this song? ' ; ' Have I found true
love in Mary here? ' ; ' Should I tell my dad I love you before its too late?' ; and
' Who stole my cookies??? KNN MCB!! '. Omit last entry. This is the time period
when Shakespear wrote Sonnet 18. Or when we start forwarding junk mails to
our friends, (send this to 5-10 ppl and your true love will call u now!!) <-- I really hate that kinda emails.

Day Z
We become the ultimate house-husband. Cleaning dishes. Folding clothers straight
from the dryer. Heck! We'll even iron our underwears. Rearrange our furniture and
book and notes and then stand back and admire the newly cleaned room. Finish up
the assignment thats not due till nx month. Sadly, the downside is that when this
period runs out, the room becomes the Khatulistiwa jungle again. The flora(kulat)
and fauna(kutu/lice) blossoms again. Even the herba-herbi and cendawan start
growing on the left overs.

Yes I would have to conclude that even Men undergo PMS as well. So girls pls cut
us some slack. We're not the robot-like you think we are. We can cry too (when
cutting onions), we can be neat too (during day Z) and blame our hormones for
our fluctuating sex drives.

S-P-P UPDATE!!

Due to heavy campaigning, I have berjaya-ed to coax a few good men to join in my SPP. This rakan seperjuangan shall be given code-names Ramasamy and Zulfudli (I had to use nama samaran to protect their identity). The first agenda of SPP would be to clense the gym-room of spider cobwebs and kulat-kulat yg bermaharajalela sepanjang tahun. This is to say that the gym-room had been heavily under-utilised. Secondly a fund raising shall be underway to sponsor purchase of healthy food such as Sainsbury's Organic Eggs, which is obviously needed to build more actin and myosin so our muscles can undergo hypertrophy... WTF???!!! To make it easier, I'll quote Rocky Balboa : Yeh gotta eat egks ya kno' its like gud fer ya muscles ya kno'.

So anyways for the fundraising, we shall be charging 8 pounds per entry to anyone that wants to enter the gym to watch us work out. [Yes we know its rather expensive but its not often an opportunity like this comes by]. This brilliant idea struck me after attending UCL's M-nite. My wallet kena rogol 8 pds to watch ppl shake ass. An alternative would be to form a Floyer Gang and collect protection money from Floyerians... you better pay up or else we will go in your kitchen and steal your kuali, ice cream, oyster sos and throw ur telur all over the kitchen (unless its organic, we'll eat that).

With these super-plan underway there should be no stopping us achieving 6 packs in no time. Just for target's sake, I shall set the date of 13th July as the date my SPP shall officially be successfully completed. Gambate Rama-rama dan Zoofadli !!!!! (nama samaran sekali lagi)

After winter is over I'm going to start on my SPP aka Six Pack Programme. This initiative was previously invented by The Man (with a capital M) aka Ang Choon Seong and his Banting roommate, me. As usual the SPP never got kick started due to many factors. This includes:

1) Pre-departion to London - must eat Msian food before go Ing Kok (England)
2) Exams in Queen Mary Uni - to study brain need food
3) Cold 2005 winter - only polar bear can run in winter, i am no polar bear
4) Dixie Fried Chicken - Chicken, 2 Lamb ribs, Fries + 3 Hot wings for 2.50 ONLYYY~!~!
5) Summer holidays in Malaysia - Panji kinchay tuateh(the man) + ko phi ko chi ko kelopi(pei2) which literally translate to - cheap and big portions + cheap, fresh and roadside stalls
6) Cold 2006 winter - watching Happy Feet doesn't make me a exercising penguin

Due to all this reasons, I'm sure many would agree I have a TOTALLY VALID (u argue i kick u) reason to delay my SPP. Therefore since I kenot find anymore reasons now, I shall start my SPP programme after winter is over.

PS: Or I could not and instead add a 7th reason for this time.
